ROLE PURPOSE


The Shift Manager leads the smooth and efficient operation of the distribution centre and is responsible for overseeing daily shift activities — from inbound receiving through to final dispatch — to meet service, productivity, and safety targets.

You will lead, coach, and support Team Coordinators and Leading Hands to deliver operational excellence, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain strong alignment with business goals and profitability objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Responsible for ensuring all end of day inbound, replenishment and outbound processes are effectively planned and managed in conjunction with other Team Managers
  • Accountable for delivering within the budgeted labour costs of all permanent and casual staff in the operational area of the warehouse
  • Driving to ensuring highest possible service levels are achieved, in line with customer expectations
  • Actively coordinate change management to drive productivity and cost efficiencies
  • Maintain day to day operations standards
  • Coordinate cross training for all AM Shift activities of the DC
  • Work with DC Operations Manager & SLM to co-ordinate improvement initiatives
  • Deputise for DC operations Manager as required
  • Hold monthly meeting with DC Management providing trend analysis and feedback in all areas
  • Maintain a positive culture throughout the Operational functions within the remit and work with peers and managers to drive it through the business
  • Accountable for site close at end of each day
  • Drive local OH&S programme and promote a “Safety First” culture within the business
  • OH&S Hazard Management
      • Report any incidents or accidents using forms provided
      • Compliance with the Winc National OH&S Management System

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

 

  • Experience in management of a team in a warehousing environment
  • Knowledge of state legislation for OH&S and Industrial Relations
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups, projects or initiatives
  • Strong understanding of Logistics Operations and processes
  • Proven experience in implementing process improvement and change management
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with many different departments
