ROLE PURPOSE

 

Due to an internal promoton, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Queensland Distribution Centre, with full accountability for safety, service, cost, and people performance. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a proven DC or warehouse leader who can operate strategically while remaining visible on the floor.

Reporting to the State Logistics Manager, you will lead both the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Distribution Centre, embedding best-practice processes, driving continuous improvement, and building a strong, safety-first culture that delivers for customers and the business.

Headline responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic and operational direction of the QLD Distribution Centre in line with company values and objectives.
  • Provide strong, visible leadership to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across productivity, service, cost, and safety outcomes.
  • Develop, coach, and engage leaders and frontline teams, with a strong focus on capability, accountability, and performance.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers and key internal stakeholders, including Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Customer Service, and Transport.
  • Own operational planning, budgeting, and performance outcomes, ensuring targets and service levels are consistently met or exceeded.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Safety

  • Lead a safety-first Distribution Centre, embedding a Zero Harm culture with strong compliance, visible leadership, and effective incident management.
  • Ensure full compliance with HSEQ, WHS legislation, and company safety standards, driving strong engagement and accountability.


Service & Customer Outcomes

  • Act as the site lead for customer service excellence, ensuring contractual service levels and KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Drive best-practice inventory accuracy, product availability, and labour coordination to support reliable service delivery.
  • Own customer escalations and lead service recovery in collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Transport, and Supply Chain teams.


Commercial & Operational Performance

  • Own DC cost, labour, and productivity performance, ensuring budgets, throughput, and efficiency targets are achieved safely and sustainably.
  • Lead workforce planning and labour mix strategy (permanent, casual, labour hire) to balance flexibility, capability, and cost control.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable gains in service, safety, cost, and productivity.


People & Leadership

  • Build a high-performance operations team through strong leadership, clear accountability, coaching, and capability development.
  • Partner effectively with Sales, Supply Chain, Transport, and Customer Service to deliver end-to-end operational outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience leading a Distribution Centre or large warehouse operation in a hands-on role.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, productivity, and high-volume operations.
  • Solid systems capability across WMS, labour management, and MS Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS and Industrial Relations, with a safety-first leadership approach.
