ROLE PURPOSE
The Category Manager will support the Head of Category Management in delivering B2B category strategies aligned to commercial objectives. Main deliverables include but not limited to:

Developing and executing category strategies to drive growth, profitability, and innovation

Building and managing strong supplier partnerships to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and service

Conducting market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities

Monitoring performance against targets and driving continuous improvement

Collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams

Leading supplier negotiations and managing contracts to secure favourable terms
This position will be based in our Mascot Head Office in Sydney NSW.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Drive sales & margin growth through effective category management practices to enhance customer experience and achieve commercial objectives
- Develop and implement strategic direction for category including product offering, positioning, product life cycle, promotions and key selling strategies (in collaboration with Sales) to drive growth and penetration
- Continuously analyse data and insights to determine market trends and threats and unlock growth opportunities
- Drive alignment and transparency with the Sales, Marketing, Procurement & Inventory teams, with a focus to improve customer experience and drive profit improvements across all customer segments and channels
- Develop and manage ongoing vendor partnerships, ensuring the best possible commercial arrangements on all products and solutions
- Coach and lead Category Specialist to develop their technical and analytical capability to drive continuous improvement and simplification in Merchandise processes
- Support Own Brand range offering and penetration to increase margin
- Experience in managing Technology (Computer Hardware & Accessories) and Ink & Toner will be highly beneficial.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years’ experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, or Buying roles
- B2B experience highly regarded
- Strong commercial acumen with a results-driven mindset
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with previous team management experience preferred
- Experience operating in a fast-paced or transformational environment
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing packaging product categories is advantageous
